IMPACT2021 School of Hotel and Tourism Management, PolyU, Hong Kong
BACKGROUND
The IMPACT Conference is an annual event organised with an aim to strengthening the impact of research on hospitality and tourism on the industry and society at large.
THEME: NEW TOURISM, NEW DIRECTIONS
The global hospitality and tourism industry has been gradually picking up from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. While gauging the effects of the global health crisis, many industry professionals are eager to embrace evolving travel norms, keeping the industry moving in new directions during these challenging times. The time has now come to turn the crisis into an opportunity by looking at the hospitality and tourism sector in a different light, and ramp up actions necessary to pave the way for the future development of the industry. The emerging global trends and potential implications for the future of the industry have thus attracted considerable attention from practitioners, policy-makers and academics.
Organised by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and its Hospitality and Tourism Research Centre together with STR, IMPACT2021 is committed to bridging the gap between academia and industry practice and thereby exerting a positive impact on hospitality and tourism communities. Taking the theme of “New Tourism, New Directions”, this year’s conference will be held both offline and online on 16 December at the SHTM in Hong Kong.
AIM OF THE CONFERENCE
IMPACT2021 aims to bring industry executives, government officials and academics together to discuss global industry trends, exchange ideas, explore creative ways forward and debate on strategic frameworks towards sustainable practices and the reactivation of the industry.
